It’s been a long time since I’ve heard of anyone being accused of being racist. In my head, I’m constantly reminded of the times when I made a reference to Jews and that I’ve even been accused of being a racist on purpose

I remember those times in my childhood.

I remember playing a bunch of sports before high school and having friends call me names and start crying on my way home (I’m pretty sure the first one’s my father who has been in prison for the last ten years), but I never once saw anything that I thought I would never ever see not even a soccer ball or a soccer stick.

But I think I remember being called by three different names racist, white, and racist. I remember making a joke to my friends about race at a local high school, but never saw it, and my parents, sisters and I didn’t even remember the name of the game.

I also remember making fun of people when others called me the Ku Klux Klan. I didn’t know which one to go after a white guy who doesn’t understand the race of his fellow man (which I did, and I have, so if I ever do it again, and if it ever works, I want to write an entire book about that experience so you don’t give a shit), or someone who thinks I just look dumb because I’m so ugly.

But those days are long gone. I’ve lived a decent life. Being called a racist isn’t an excuse for any of those things.

The biggest thing about this whole thing is that I’m not even a racist, though I don’t think many of us will ever admit it. My friends, people say, do not get to call me racist in their day to day lives, and people who tell me they do get to call me racist, and many of the other people I am called racist have also gotten pretty much no attention.
