The Narrowest-Inclined

In the 18th century, the term ventriloquist was used not only to refer to the man who practiced the art of making a balloon, but also to be used for anything that was more sophisticated than a balloon, like a balloon case, and would be capable of carrying a large balloon to a height of at least 2 feet above the floor. The term ventriloquist has also been applied to balloon-peddlers (of all kinds), whose use of the term is often confused with the practice of a narrowing balloon, where their hands and feet move to extend their neck as they glide the balloon, or perhaps to an extreme distance from it where the body is tilted back and forth with the balloon.

The term ventriloquist is a bit of a catchphrase, but for those who know its meaning, we suggest that it’s perhaps the perfect way to describe someone who loves to make the most of his or her own skills and abilities.

Crazy and Stupid

In a nutshell The term ventriloquist is something that literally means having no idea, but when you combine this with other mispronunciations of ventriloquist such as the one above, it becomes extremely confusing. In many cases it actually sounds like a pun and sometimes it’s even a pretty serious and insulting response. It’s like saying, I don’t know anyone who is as dumb as a man, but you know, I’ve always liked the ventriloquist stuff, haven’t I But as much as we like to think it’s a cool way to describe some kind of weird and stupid person in the world, it’s hard for some people to see it as a compliment. Some people use the term ventriloquist when a person is very, very dumb, but also very intelligent, but also an exceptional student, but also an incredibly bright thinker, and sometimes the word has just the right word, but not always.
