Matt also asked for a video tribute to John, asking his fans to be a part of doing this, not just one time, for a month. Matt says that is part of the appeal too as they want his likeness to be the most remembered artist in an area.

Puppet fans might even see John as a role model.

John has received hundreds of letters and posters on Facebook from people talking about how his work has inspired them to get involved in other groups, including art and literature projects in the area.

I wanted to have all my friends say their names and share in that, he said.

His story has inspired art shows and paintings around the world and inspired music at a number of festivals. He also hosts a popular comedy show called Puppet about puppeteers that he calls his Puppet Show. There is even a puppet show for children featuring him.

John said that since his career is over, he was happy to see the attention to his work and I was just kind of happy to see some new people going on there, as well. He hopes others have too.

We’ve seen this from John and many others in general as well. Some of his puppets seem like they’re in good hands for a little more of a reward than it should be, he said.
