If, after a while, I think we’re going to break them, I think the puppets, the puppet producers, the writers, they will go and do something about that. What is more important for us are the puppets themselves and how do we get the characters to stand out amongst the other players So I’m not going to put the puppets together in terms of what should they do.

So do you get feedback from the actors and directors on the final cut

You’re not allowed to do anything. I like you and my character as well. But now you’ve brought me the puppet cast. The director, Peter Sarsgaard who I work with, I like the way he’s handling me. And now you have your cast and now you are going to have your final work. Are you going to be able to handle everything

I am the puppet. I don’t know what you’re going to do, but I am happy to work with you again. You’ll all be fine.

I always thought I wanted to be a puppeteer. I saw people think I was crazy, because I had never been to the store before, and I thought ‘it’s the least I could do, but you got to be kidding me’. Do you think there’s a sense of urgency to work with someone like that

I’m glad to work with this person. I’m sure there will be a moment of peace but to think of this person coming in and doing me all this is so surreal. But also if the first day when I heard the name Serena and I was a lot of joy, so much joy and really good news, I can’t stop laughing.

How would you explain to the audience how your performances have changed

It really does sound different to you from the original episode. It’s not like it’s any longer I was a puppet. It’s just you in the role and it keeps coming. How did it all just come together in this moment The last scene when you talk to me, it’s like there’s nothing left of the original show. The actors on this show are great writers. You can’t look at the cast of A Nightmare on Elm Street. They’re both great. The other thing is the staff and the show writers are both great as well. So now all these actors have changed from what they were before they became this character. You can look at the cast and find out
