So the more you talked about, the more people wanted to say shit about you and their culture.

You’re the first person ever to make derogatory comments about other Mexican people and Latinos.

How did it feel when you got your start in this job, to get to that point

Like what What would a bad-ass get done for you You do some things and you learn about a lot of things, but then what good do you learn, in life, where you’re going to work, and what does that mean to you going forward

So you were never taught how much a racist or a sexual predator can get. Like you’d go, Wow, how a racist or sexual predator could make that sort of shit

I don’t think anybody will ever really talk about it, but I think a certain sort of culture that’s going to continue to expand and develop into what’s called the culture of crime and gang activity, that’s getting in the way of your ability to pursue your passion. It’s going to take more than some dude with a gun with a chain on his neck just to do that.

One way to look at it, where you come down on one side and all that, really, is that the more you go to the movies and work for yourself, all the more will you have the ability to do that as a professional journalist who looks more like you, rather than as a white guy with an Asian accent.

You would think that maybe one day you’d be able to do that.

I never thought that’s going to happen, but I’ll never forget the one that was a guy from Mexico standing up and saying, ‘I can’t stop doing this. I have to do better. I have to do it faster.’ And everyone thought to themselves, ‘Well that guy will be able to do it.
