Boris Johnson is calling for a full and impartial investigation into the Russian interference in the 2016 election, telling a British tabloid that there is a very strong case that the evidence does not fall within our purview.

A report published by The Daily Express on Friday showed that at least three top U.K. political figures who worked for Mr. Putin had ties to Moscow during the campaign.

One of Mr. Putin’s top aides, Boris Givshchenko, served on the Russian parliament for nearly 20 years, according to the Telegraph. He also worked for both the Communist Party of Ukraine - a senior figure in the leadership group and the official party that is run by Mr. Putin - and also had contacts with Russia’s top financial and military officials before the election.

When pressed about his links to the Kremlin, he added that we are in a position of being able to decide the course of things. That’s because the U.K. may not want a dossier, in this case, that the intelligence authorities have at that time of course, he told the Telegraph.

The Times reported Friday that Mr. Putin had said it was definitely a very strong case … that there is no evidence of any links to foreign actors, either political, financial or other to sway vote.

His comments came after Mr. Putin, who has denied any wrongdoing, warned on Wednesday that he had no intention of getting rid of American spy agency Prism.

While President Donald Trump took part in a phone call and a meeting with Sergei Kislyak, who is in his final months in the White House, he seemed concerned that the Russian government could come to the United States to help Trump’s agenda. He went so far as to suggest that Mr. Flynn was in New York to discuss trade agreements, and that Trump had done nothing to prevent collateral damage.

Mr. Putin said in a statement that Mr. Flynn had spoken with representatives of Russian interests such as foreign diplomats to the administration as well as U.S. military and intelligence service personnel, including military attachs, political prisoners
