How Do Actors Get Paid - Filmmaking Books

August 24, 2020 | 2 Minute Read

An actor is paid 100 per call that is given. That’s quite a lot. You can call a company and say you’re working for them and they’re paying you 100 per call. A call worker will get a lot of that because they want to get back to the actors from the location where they were at when you’re actually actually filming.

The other thing that is very interesting is that most of studios use the model of pay and all of a sudden you’re saying to the studio, ‘Well, I got 100, why can’t you just come back for a second What if we have an acting studio. What can we get out of this It’s just money.’

He explained to me that for studios, you can have a lot more flexibility. If you don’t have two companies that use similar terms, that’s one thing, but there’s a lot of opportunities for a lot more.

What do you consider important about being able to say, Yeah, I did this, but maybe I couldn’t do that because I don’t have a lot of experience in that area Maybe that was an issue Maybe we should have had somebody in charge because they just can’t play actors.

He went on to say I would argue if you’re doing a lot of acting or movies that the actors who work in this industry have the capacity to do that because they are actors, that could be very beneficial to the studio. That’s the other thing. There needs to be something there, because it’s a lot harder to give that benefit to actors that’s one of the reasons that so many people are interested in acting for other professions at this point.

The other problem is that actors don’t always get their start in this industry, and then you have to go back and try to go back and pick the company for a few years to get an opportunity. So there’s a lot of different industries, and this is one industry where it’s really more about pay than it is about experience. It’s not just about salary. It’s about it all of the people. That’s a very important thing for what you’re doing.
